The Cre8ivity Group
In 2004 eight Salt Spring artists launched the cre8ivity group with an inaugural show in Sidney, BC. This was followed by exhibitions in the Gallery at the Mac, located in the McPherson Theatre in Victoria, and on Salt Spring at Artcraft's Stage Gallery. In July 2007, six of the group -- Judith Borbas, Susan Haigh, Don Hodgins, Bly Kaye, Gail Sibley and Margaret Threlfall -- presented a show of new and retrospective works in ArtSpring's main gallery.
All members of the group are practising artists working mainly in a representational style, but in a wide range of media spanning fairly traditional oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings to pastels, mixed water media and collage. A diversity of subjects characterizes our group's work, from figurative and portrait to landscape, seascape and still life. And our paintings range from the immediately recognizable to semi-abstract or a highly interpretive treatment of each subject.
The result is a surprisingly complementary and colourful, visually exciting collection of paintings for exhibition and sale.
